The area is one of the most important wetlands in our country with rich birds and therefore attracts many visitors who are interested in waterfowl. The starting point of the route we suggest is located in Sagiada in the main settlement "Skaloma", its port. From there begins a dirt road that leads directly to the Delta.
Gitani (in the Doric dialect Gitana) was in antiquity one of the most important political, administrative and economic centers of Thesprotia. Ruins of the city are located on the slopes of Mount Brussels in a magnificent landscape in many ways, surrounded for the most part by the river Kalamas (Thyamis) which contributed greatly to the economic independence of the city.
